A 5-star camping by the sea ideal for relaxing family time

The Domaine de Diane campsite is an 80-hectare natural space with pine trees and sand dunes just steps from the Baie de Somme and the resort of Quend with its vast beach. Instead of tents and caravans, this is a place for 5 star camping in France, with designer chalets and mobile homes, along with a whole array of on-site activities for all ages. It’s the very essence of simple enjoyment: a cheerful holiday village where happy childhood memories are made. Quend is located 1 hour from Calais or 1 hour 45 minutes by the scenic D940 coastal route which runs along picturesque fishing villages such as Wissant, Audresselles, Wimereux, Le Touquet or even the unmissable Nausicàa sealife centre in Boulogne sur Mer.

The five-star Domaine de Diane is a dream setting in which to throw yourselves into your holiday with a vengeance. One of a new era of campsites, it distils all the elements of the local landscape within its own grounds: a pine wood in which to walk or cycle, an area of dunes to climb with new friends made on the site, and ponds for fishing contests. And that’s not all. There are also tennis courts, a mini-golf course, open-air games, and workshops with attentive, highly qualified and very lovely activity leaders. Anything and everything can be organised in the blink of an eye.

You can forget your car where it’s parked: bikes are available to take the safe cycle path leading you to the beach at Quend. And at the end of the day you can relax together around the swimming pool (heated, and with a retractable roof so it can be used in all weathers). While the kids are enjoying water play, parents will want to indulge in a little pampering courtesy of the hydro-massage seats. Days wind up over leisurely dinners on the terrace, relaxing around the table until late in the evening (the kids will be begging to stay up for the evening entertainment).

Nearby you’ll also find the famous Marquenterre bird reserve, the treetop adventure park Arbre & Aventure, sand-yachting (who cares if you’re no good at it?!), a donkey farm park and family golf lessons. Animals hidden in the sand

Cockles, small crabs, sand worms… I love the little heads of children as they dig in the sand of the Bay and discover all the little animals hiding there. It's very concrete, they touch with the tips of their fingers and so they remember. I think it's one of the best gifts you can give them: bring them to the heart of the Bay (with a guide, for greater safety), where the fauna is so rich, and allow them to discover with their own hands, to taste plants, to fill their lungs with iode-scented air, to see far in the distance, far - much farther than we can generally see. All five senses are mobilised and they'll never forget it!
