Think of the B&B’s communal ground floor too as an extension of your luxury space, with its gorgeous terrace with sunloungers, spa facilities, and on-trend lounge to chill in (think sweets in jars, cakes and pastries and hot and cold drinks – all complimentary - plus deep sofas, magazines and music). It’s one of many ways owners Nicolas and Pascal strive to add value to your stay: there are also bikes to borrow so that you can head out to the stunning Samoussy forest AND last but (definitely) not least, guests of Le Prieuré are invited to use the luxury indoor pool at its stunning sister property Domaine de Barive a 5-minute drive away. How’s that for a dose of Zen in Aisne!

Food? They’ve got that covered too. A lovely breakfast of cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fruit, yoghurts, jam - and all the warm boulangerie goodies you’d expect from a French petit déjeuner - is served until the relaxed hour of 11am. Lunch is easy too: order up a picnic hamper from Nicolas and Pascal. And dinner? Well, there’s plenty of choice; either a cold and casual dine-in option at Le Prieuré, or refined cuisine at Domaine de Barive’s restaurant ‘Les Epicuriens’, or a recommended restaurant in the nearby hilltop town of Laon, where you’re sure to want to head anyway for the magnificent cathedral (head to the top!), historic tunnels, ramparts and elegant shopping in Rue Châtelaine.
