Outstanding views from Amiens Cathedral
I adore the solemn atmosphere of this majestic Gothic building with its simple, spare style. I’m fascinated by its history and can never get over how quickly it was built. If you’re feeling energetic then you really must make your way up to the top of the north tower. A truly stunning panoramic view of the city awaits you.
A sheer delight for your eyes and taste buds
You absolutely must stop off at the “Halles du Beffroi” (indoor market). I love nothing better than walking around looking at the stalls admiring and smelling the fresh produce. You can find the full range of local produce such as sea beans from the Bay of Somme, salt meadow lamb terrine, authentic “ficelle picarde” (a savoury pancake filled with cheese, ham and mushrooms), and my own personal favourite....cheese made in Picardy such as “tomme picarde au foin” and “bray picard”…!
