Around the city of the famous vase and the equally well-known Soissons beans, white freestone is omnipresent.

It is used to build numerous gables, called crow-stepped gables, and adorns Septmonts Keep, Saint Jean des Vignes and Longpont Abbeys and, of course, Soissons Cathedral.
